Through eruptions, fires, wars and displacement she has endured. Today she is an honoured kuia, revered by her iwi in the United Kingdom and her original owners and creators, T\u016bhourangi, as well as the wider iwi of Te Arawa.<\/p>\n<p>Hinemihi is also an artwork, a taonga of rare beauty whose artist carvers, Tene Waitere and Wero T\u0101roi,\u00a0 are celebrated in this publication.<\/p>\n<p>Hinemihi o Te Ao Tawhito will return to Aotearoa after over a century standing in the gardens of Clandon Park in Surrey, home of the Onslow family whose ties to New Zealand date to the tenure of the 4th Earl, William Hillier Onslow\u2019s tenure as Governor in the 1890s.<\/p>\n<p>This publication is also a celebration of one of New Zealand\u2019s most distinguished photographic artists, Mark Adams, and marks his recent exhibition <em>Hinemihi: Te Hokinga \u2013 The Return\u00a0<\/em>at Two Rooms Gallery in July and August 2020.<\/p>\n<p><em>Hinemihi: Te Hokinga \u2013 The Return\u00a0<\/em>also features numerous unpublished historic images sourced from private collections and New Zealand museums.<\/p>\n<p>The preparation of the publication has taken place in close consultation with Ng\u0101 Kohinga Whakairo \u2013 the Rotorua based organization which represents Hinemihi\u2019s ancestral iwi T\u016bhourangi, Ng\u0101ti Hinemihi and Ng\u0101ti Tarawhai.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"\">\n<div class=\"\">With funding support from Creative New Zealand, Bath Street Arts Trust and The Waterloo Foundation.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p>128pp 310x233mm portrait, softcover with flaps.
